Down two men and up two goals - we couldn't have done it without you, Special.

Marco mask

Why is Marco Materazzi wearing that mask? And who is the mask of? Inquiring minds need to know!

Ok, I have the scoop on this. It is a Silvio Berlusconi mask. He wore it then went out and hugged all the black players. I believe this is a political statement and was prompted by the terrible race riots in Southern Italy earlier in the month (also read about it here and here). Of course, that is just speculation on my part - it could also be that Marco is taking issue with Silvio's recent comments about immigration ("The left's idea is of a multi-ethnic Italy. That's not our idea, ours is to welcome only those who meet the conditions for political asylum."). Whatever the case, I am most definitely on Materazzi's side in this matter. Silvio Berlusconi is evil (in my opinion, of course) and deserves all the ridicule he gets.
