We Won! Can You Believe It?!?

Milan 0 Inter 1 We Win The Derby!

There was only one goal but that is all it took. Inter win this first derby, despite all the odds, despite our aging defense, despite our table position, despite it all... MILANO SIAMO NOI. And I couldn't be happier.

I was very nervous before this game. Then, I was miserable for most of the game play. There is no way around it, that first half was dismal for Inter. Sure, we had a goal disallowed for offside (perhaps wrongly), but for the most part, I felt like the team could not string two passes together to save their lives. But then we went into the half and Ranieri worked his magic. Yes, I am now officially a CR fan. You just cant argue with these results. Anyway, we went into the half and came out swinging. I am sure they still had more possession and I think at least 30 of those 48 minutes were played in our penalty box, but in the end, we won. And it feels great. Grazie Ragazzi. Pazza Inter Amala.

Zanetti thighs of steel
First, can I say that Javier Zanetti is... well... he just leaves me speechless.

I think the oldies showed they weren't completely out of it. And for the new guys, welcome to the Derby della Madonnina.

Yuto and Maicon celebrate the derby win
Remember this feeling, Yuto, because we will be looking for another win this spring.

And can I have a shout out for our boys in defense? I know, this time the D was a team effort, but come on, another clean sheet. Woo hoo.

JC and Samuel celebrate
Walter Samuel, you are grinta personified.

Julio Cesar saves the scoreline
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ So dreamy ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Cant stand it ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

And I think it is safe to say that Il Principe has returned. We all knew he had it in him. Hopefully now he will believe what we fans always knew: he is a damn good football player (and a bit of a looker as well).

Milito shows up!
Bentornato, Milito. We missed you.

Oh, and I know I may be a huge softie and probably slightly overwrought, but seeing our 38 year old, record breaking, captain who has devoted his adult life to F.C. Internazionale Milano kiss his jersey after a hard-fought win actually brings a tear to my eye. I know, melodramatic much?

Zanetti kiss jersey
Come on, that is some pretty powerful stuff right there.

So hugs all around boys, you earned your night of celebration. Remember, though, we have to do all this again next week. It may not be a derby, but this time fourth place will be on the line. It would be a shame if, after all this hard work, we were not able to actually move up the table.

hugs all around
Give them an extra squeeze for me!

Onward and upward. The sky is the limit.

FORZA INTER

Milano siamo noi.
