Inter is ridiculed at least twice yearly for selling Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf to Milan in the early naughts.
It was a massive brain cramp for sure but the Nerazzurri have exacted a small measure of revenge (sort of) by offloading some players of questionable ability on their San Siro co-tenants.
The old adage of one man's junk is another man's treasure has rang true between the two clubs in the last decade.
So, ahead of the Derby della Madonnina, we take a look at the damaged goods that Inter has sold to Milan over the years; a list of bums that Milanisti are not so eager to throw back in the faces of their city rivals.
Amantino Mancini
A favourite whipping boy among the Inter faithful the Brazilian winger failed to live up to his lofty €13 million price tag and was shipped off to Milan on a loan deal with an option to purchase half of his rights.
He languished on the bench for much of his short stay with the Rossoneri, making only seven league appearances without scoring a goal. His life took a much darker turn when he was sentenced to almost three years in jail for sexual assault back in 2011.
Taribo West
His hairstyles were as colourful and bizarre as his defending at times. The Nigerian was stellar in his first two seasons with the Nerazzurri but was sold to Milan as he did not figure in Marcello Lippi's plans.
West saw action in only four domestic games before leaving the club and accused Milan years later of giving special preference to the Italian defenders in the squad.
Christian Vieri
Inter broke the world record transfer fee when it paid €32 million for his services. He scored goals for fun for a couple of seasons and finished with 103 in 143 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri.
The relationship with the club and fans soured and 'Bobo' was shipped off to Milan where he scored more off the pitch than on it. He made only eight appearances for the Rossoneri, netting only one league goal before leaving the club.
Matias Silvestre
The Argentine defender made only a handful of appearances for Inter, including one against his old team Palermo in which his mistake proved decisive in the 1-0 loss.
He hasn't played for the Nerazzurri since as they offloaded him to Milan on a loan deal where he has been injury prone and hasn't made a big impact. Imagine that.
Giuseppe Favalli
He was a fixture on the left hand side until Inter signed Fabio Grosso and he was relegated to the bench. Milan fans can't fault the price as he switched allegiances for free but you get what you pay most of the time.
He wasn't a terrible defender by any means but his best years were clearly behind him as younger, faster forwards had their way with him for four seasons.
