As the Derby della Madonnina approaches the staff at SB Nation Inter Offside have comprised our Top 5 derby moments from the last decade. We will be revealing each moment as we count down to Sunday, with the number one spot set to be unveiled on the eve of the derby.
Moment #3 took place on Dec. 11, 2005 in the final minute of an intense derby. Jaap Stam had just levelled matters in the 85th minute when he rose the highest to beat Julio Cesar and now Esteban Cambiasso stood over the ball in what would be the last meaningful action of the game.
Adriano had scored from the penalty spot earlier in the game and the Brazilian shook his marker to nod a downward header that beat a stunned Dida, who was rooted to the spot.
Adriano had won the derby with the last kick of the game. Inter leapfrogged Milan into first place and would not relinquish its spot at the top of the table while finishing 18 points ahead of its city rivals.
The Nerazzurri would go on to win another four straight Scudetti and you could make a pretty valid argument that Adriano's goal was the catalyst for a golden era at the club.
