Luca Caldirola is set for a Physical with Werder Bremen

Long time Inter youth product and U21 staple Luca Caldirola is very strongly rumored to be on his way to the German Bundesliga to join former youth product and U21 teammate Giulio Donati who was transferred to Bayer Leverkusen last week.

Caldirola has been with the Inter youth system since 1999, or since his age was in single digits (he was 8). He was the Captain of the Primavera while he served there. Luca went on to several teams on loans to build his ability until he was called back to Inter in the summer of the 2011-2012 when he was included in the first team roster under Gasperini. Luca didn’t see senior team action until Gasperini was gone and Ranieri was the coach. The only time he saw the field with the senior team was in a Champions League game in December.

Luca spent the rest of his time since then in Serie B with Cesena or Brescia acquitting himself well according to reports. Just recently Luca has been serving as Captain of the highly successful Italy U21 team that lost the Championship in the finals to Spain after a very strong showing. Luca made it to the UEFA U21 All Stars Team highlighting the best players of the tournament.

Luca’s transfer fee is reportedly in the €3 million range.
