The Lega Serie A draw has determined the ties for the first and second knock-out rounds of the Tim Cup, before Inter join in the third round on 17 August.
32 clubs will participate in round 3: the 20 clubs that qualify from the second knock-out round, the sides that finished ninth to 18th in Serie A 2012/13, along with the three newly-promoted teams from Serie B.
The 16 winners from round three (one-off tie) will go into the draw for round 4 which will be played on 4 December 2013.
In the last 16, the eight winners from the fourth round will be joined by the eight seeds (top 8 from last season's Serie A), with matches taking place on 9 January 2014.
The quarter-finals have been set for 22 January 2014, while the semi-finals – the only round to feature a two-legged tie – will be played on 5 and 12 February 2014, before the final in Rome on 3 May 2014.
I don’t have anything else to add to this other than as far as I am concerned, these are really just glorified friendlies – although these friendlies would need to be won to avoid embarrassment. It’s also worth considering that the Coppa Italia is a competition in which this team can actually make noise
