A loan Yohan Cabaye strike was the highlight of a balanced match which saw Inter employ a new-ish 4-2-3-1 formation and give run-outs to several youngsters as well as players returning from injury.
Of course, when you play PSG Zlatan Ibrahimovic always takes center stage, but it was nice for him to share a brief moment with his old manager and his old club yesterday.
Zlatan was not all show, though, and nearly drew first blood in the 25th minute. Luckily, Handanovic was able to make the close-range reaction save.
Inter took their chances almost grabbed the lead late in the relatively dull first half, when Mauro Icardi tried a chip over PSG keeper Nicolas Douchez, only to see his effort fly wide.
Zlatan again made his presence known at the beginning of the second half when he nearly put in a cross from Blaise Matuidi, but was denied for a second time.
Unfortunately for the Nerazzurri, a subsequent cross from Adrien Rabiot was deflected across the 6-yard box and fell neatly to Johan Cabaye, who easily tucked the ball into the back of the net in the 57th minute.
Il Biscione pushed hard for an equalizer on the backs of Palazzi, Puscas, and Vidic (yes, Vidic), but the loan Cabaye goal was enough to seal the win for Les Perisiens.
Post-match, Roberto Mancini said he was pleased with his side's overall performance and expressed that the club would continue to work to improve before Inter's big clash with Serie A table-toppers Juventus next week.
