Schalke U-19 captain Thilo Kehrer set to join Inter

18-year-old Thilo Kehrer is likely headed to Italy in June after turning down a contract offer from his current club.

Inter Milan has been busy adding new faces to strengthen their team, with the likes of Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri slotting straight in to the first team. But Inter is also keeping one eye in the future with the signing of Boris Rapaic and possibly Tino-Sven Sušić.

Now it seems another young talent is on his way to Giuseppe Meazza. 18-year old Thilo Kehrer is set to join Inter in the summer from Bundesliga side, Schalke 04.

According to reports in Italy, Kehrer will join Inter on a free transfer in June as he has repeatedly turned down contract offers from his current club. Kehrer will likely sign a five-year contract following the conclusion of his current deal with Schalke.

Kehrer primarily plays in defense as a centre back and he was a product of Stuttgart's academy prior to his move to Schalke in 2012. He has represented Germany in the U-16 and U-17 age groups.

The highly rated central defender will likely spend some time in Inter's primavera side or on loan and Inter fans may have to wait a while before he features for the first team.
