So you may be wondering what exactly is the deal with Mario Suarez? That's a great question. Some reports claim that a €9 million offer was made by Inter and subsequently rejected by Atlético de Madrid, while Suarez's agent claims Inter have not yet made a "concrete offer" for the midfielder.

According to reports from Sky News, Liverpool have said that Inter can have Lucas Leiva for €10 million. Some outlets have reported that Inter have already made such an offer, and that the player has already reached an agreement with the Italian club, while others say that Piero Ausilio has only just begun serious talks with Liverpool.

If they can't land Suarez or Leiva, Inter may look to negotiate with English side Tottenham Hotspur for 26-year-old DM Paulinho, who has not gotten much playing time at White Hart Lane this season and is looking for more first-team football.

Regarding other potential defensive talent who may or may not end up at the San Siro, TuttoMercatoWeb has reported that Inter are monitoring Dnipro target Sebastian Vegas, a Chilean defender. Sky has also reported that 24-year-old Ezequiel Munoz is on Inter's radar. The Argentine defender has not renewed his contract with Palermo, and Inter may swoop for him this January.

As for players who may be  on the way out in January, Italian reporter Alfredo Pedulla claims that the proposed deal between Inter and Bologna for Ibrahima Mbaye is all but a done deal. Apparently, the two sides have agreed on a loan with an obligation to buy set at €2 million, with a buy-back clause for Inter inserted into the contract.

Additionally, Cardiff City are reportedly ready to make a move for Inter-owned keeper Francesco Bardi, who is currently on loan with Chievo Verona.

And finally, regarding international duty, Yuto Nagatomo is set to feature in Japan's match against United Arab Emirates in the Asian Cup quarterfinals. The Inter defender has already put in a handful of 90-minute shifts during the tournament and has expressed that this is an important match for the Blue Samurais.
