In what has been an injury ravaged season, Jonathan has likely played his last game for Inter Milan this season, as his campaign ends prematurely.

According to reports in Italy, Jonathan had to undergo an arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. The Brazilian has had problem all season long with that particular area, and it was decided that surgery was the best option. A timetable of three to four months has been mentioned as he attempt to put this latest setback behind him.

This has been a season to forget for the right back, who only managed to make five appearances all season long, the last one coming in September against Atalanta in a 2-0 win.

He did return briefly during the winter break, coming off the bench in the second half of Inter's friendly against Paris Saint-Germain, but then suffered another setback and he hasn't been in action since.

It is unclear whether this will affect his long-term future with Inter, as his contract is up at the end of the season. Jonathan, who will turn 29 in two-weeks time, has made a total of 66 appearances for Inter since moving from Santos three seasons ago.
