WHAT ARE YOU FREDY GUARIN

Good goal by Fredy Guarin. Impressive power. Fluid thinking. But otherwise fairly straightforward, right? I mean, the defenders stand off so he aims for a top corner with a snap shot and took the keeper by surprise. We've all done that at least 6,000 times playing FIFA, right? That's what I thought too—then I looked closer and realized that's not even close to what this was.

Closer inspection reveals HE HIT THAT WITH THE OUTSIDE OF HIS FOOT. You could teach an entire course on this strike at Harvard.

The ball first whipped so hard away from goal that halfway through its trajectory the keeper is convinced it's going to land 9 rows up the stands to his left. Then a plot twist that'd go over M. Night Shyamalan's head pulls the ball back to goal. The keeper is left rooted to his spot, wishing he could DVR real life to instantly rewind the moment just to understand it all.

He's not alone. I didn't think this was allowed in the physical world we presently occupy. If I were him I'd still be staring at the sky with a clenched fist aimed at the sun, expecting to take off at any moment.

Clearly Fredy Guarin understands things about this world that we don't.
