Davide Santon set for Inter Milan return

After leaving the Italian side in 2011 to join the Magpies, the 24-year-old left back appears set for a return to the San Siro.

Gianluca DiMarzio has reported (via Sempre Inter) that Inter Milan are on the verge of bringing back former player Davide Santon to the Nerazzurri from English side Newcastle. After leaving the Italian side in 2011 to join the Magpies, the 24-year-old left back appears set for a return to the San Siro.

Santon appears set to arrive on loan with Il Biscione for the rest of the season with a €3.7 million option to buy at the end of the season. It has been claimed that a purchase clause would be activated if Santon appears in a set amount of matches for Inter during the remainder of the season, with some outlets reporting 8 appearances and others reporting 13 as the magic number. It has also been claimed that some performance bonuses will be attached to the deal as well.

Reports in Milan claim that Santon's medical with Inter will take place sometime on Monday, and that an official announcement should be forthcoming in the next several hours.
