Forza Italian Football reported earlier today that Inter may be considering making a bid for Chelsea defender Filipe Luis this summer as an alternative to Torino's Matteo Darmian, due to the Italian player's high price.
The 29-year-old Brazilian defender arrived in London last summer for a transfer fee of around €22 million and has since failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge. Luis has only made 15 appearances for the Blues this season, and that fact has already caused rumor fires to spring up all over Europe speculating about whether Luis will leave Chelsea and, if so, where he will land next season.
Luis' current contract with Chelsea is not set to expire until the end of the 2016/17 season, so it takes a bit of a leap to just believe that he'd be willing to leave London after just one inconsistent season. But it is conceivable that a player like Luis - who won both domestic and continental championships with Atlético Madrid in 2013-14 and who was once honored as one of the best three defenders in La Liga - will not abide playing second fiddle at any club for long.
