Recent reports have suggested that Inter Milan are one of a number of clubs interested in Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula. The 22 year old has been linked to Valencia and Tottenham as well.
Initial reports had Valencia in a strong position to secure Imbula's signature, but their announcement of signing Rodrigo Caio, a player with similar characteristics to Imbula, made it look less likely that the Spanish club would also sign Imbula. Inter have a good chance of signing the player after statements from his father showed that the player would be interested in joining the club and helping Inter's revival.
Marseille want €20-25m for the player, which seems like a bit much for him. Inter have not been entirely put off by this figure but are looking to secure his signature for something around €18m.
The defensive midfielder had a good season for Marseille, appearing in 37 of their 38 league matches and securing a starting position at the club despite his young age due to his tireless running and good reading of the game. He still has improving to do but he definitely has great potential. If Inter were to sign him it would probably end the club's interest in players like Thiago Motta and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
