Report: Kovacic reaches agreement with Liverpool

It seems that time is short for one of Inter's brightest young stars.

If reports from Forza Italian Football are to be believed, Mateo Kovacic has reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool regarding a transfer this summer.

Several outlets, including London's Metro and Daily Star as well as the Croatian website Vecernji List, claim that Kovacic has already expressed his desire to make a summer move to Anfield and is now only waiting on the two sides to come to a financial agreement over his imminent transfer.

Erick Thohir is reportedly supposed to meet with Reds officials in the next few days in an attempt to negotiate the terms of the swap deal. As it stands, the two clubs can't seem to agree on a transfer fee for the Croatian starlet. Thohir has set Kovacic's price at the high-but-still-reasonable price of €25 million, but Merseyside officials only want to offer €21 million for the young player with a high ceiling.

However, the Reds may be willing to toss in some of their castaway players as financial makeweights for the deal. Some rumors have claimed that former Roma man Fabio Borini or recent Inter interest Lucas Leiva could become part of the deal if the two sides can't agree on a standalone transfer fee.
