Official: Andrea Ranocchia joins Sampdoria

Another departure to report, Ranocchia had officially joined Sampdoria on loan until the end of the season. News of an imminent deal had been around for quite some time and now the official Inter site has released a statement confirming that the former captain will be leaving the club temporarily.

The 27 year old departs in search of more playing time and an opportunity to rebuild his reputation. A large number of comical errors during his time at Inter has resulted in him seeing almost no playing time both at the club and national level; though the merry-go-round of coaches and defensive partnerships certainly didn't help.

Ranocchia wil return to Inter in the summer since there doesn't seem to be any indications that his loan deal includes any options to purchase. These next few months will be vital for him; if he does not perform well at Sampdoria, he certainly will not be able to expect to find a place back at Inter.
