The news about a contract extension being signed by Samir Handanovic have popped out so many times in the last year that we lost the count, but this time it's for real.
The 31-year-old Slovenian keeper was with Mancini during the pre-game press conference for tomorrow's match against Empoli, and right before starting to talk about the game, it was announced that he signed a contract extension that ties him with the Nerazzurri until 2019.
He is often referred to as Batmanovic for his heroic saves, but I think that it also fits him for his always cool and calm attitude. It's rare to see him angry or scared and this is a great help for his teammates who have to rely on him when it comes to prevent the opposition to score.
Samir has played 12.681 minutes in 142 matches with Inter, conceding 161 goals and keeping a clean sheet 54 times. His contract would have expired this June and he already received the attention of many important European clubs to sign him as soon as his relationship with the Nerazzurri would have ended.
The club also released a short statement on the website to officially announce the extension.
