When Group K of the Europa League was announced this match-up was immediately marked as the biggest clash of the group, and they were right but not for the reasons everybody expected. Instead of the two powerhouses of the group battling for the top spot, Inter limps into this match after losing all of its previous EL matches (as well as the last two Serie A fixtures) desperate for a win with serious pressure on the players and managers. Southampton on the other hand is joint top of the group, won its last Premier League match, and comes to the San Siro looking for a historic win.
Quite simply Inter has to get a positive result, and it’s for that precise reason I think they can. Like Luca alluded to in his preview, this game has a lot of similarities to the Juve match. In both cases Inter came into the match struggling and with a lot of pressure on the manager, and with their backs against the wall Inter burst out the gates swinging and pulled off a win. I think this can happen again here but I won’t say that it will (mainly because I said before the last two EL matches that Inter would win and look how those turned out...)
