Before Saturday night's match against Udinese, Inter delivered its fans some magnificent, heart-warming, life-affirming news via its official club website. The news was that they had signed Javier Zanetti up on a lifetime administrative contract, tying our Triplete captain and all-time record appearance holder down to the black and blue colours he wore for so long for the rest of his post-playing career. Pupi was appointed as Vice President by Erick Thohir on an initial two-year deal, but with that contract set to expire on 30 June the club have acted in advance to maintain his services long into the future. Hooray!

Speaking to the club's official media channel, Zanetti said "it's an honour for me to spend the rest of my career at the place I love the most. Inter has been just that, the best years of my life for me and my family. I'm already thinking about the future of the club, working hard to return to European football's top table, where I played wearing these colours. I believe in the plans the president and club are carrying forward to get us there."

Thank you for everything you have done for us over these last twenty-one years, Pupi, and here's to the next twenty-one and more that we're about to spend together. We're all hoping that we can soon return to the levels of greatness we enjoyed while you were a player - and, as difficult as that will be, we know it would be ten times more difficult without you on board as a club ambassador. Our love for you is unconditional and eternal after everything you have given to this club. Forza Inter, and more importantly Forza Pupi!
