This protracted transfer saga is over. Yesterday news broke that Caner Erkin has agreed to join Inter and will start his 3 year contract at the club when his previous deal with Fenerbache ends on the first of July.
Details of the 27 year old's new contract are scarce, but some reports indicate that he will have a salary of €2.2m with bonuses that could raise it to €2.6m. Erkin is rated very highly in Turkey and is known for his pace and accurate crossing (a trait that Inter is pretty much always lacking from their fullbacks). It seems that he is very good going forward and the only potential concern is if that isn't balanced defensively Mancini could be left with another Dodo/Montoya situation. From what I've heard it sounds like he does read the game pretty well though so hopefully that will not be a large issue.
One way Inter fans will be able to get a sneak preview of their new left-back will be at Euro 2016. Erkin has been called up to the Turkish national team for this tournament and given that he has 46 international appearances already, it is safe to assume that he will be playing in France this summer. While we wait for him to meet up with his new Nerazzurri teammates, let's enjoy this little gem that basically confirmed the move a couple of days ago.
