Inter swoops in for Pjaca (Updated)

Inter is suddenly the top candidate to sign Marko Pjaca, though Pjaca has played down rumors of such a move.

Update:Pjaca has released a statement on his Facebook page that there is no imminent move to Inter. His agent also confirmed this. Guess we're back to chasing Berardi and Candreva for now folks.

Roberto Mancini’s hunt for a winger has mainly been focused on Antonio Candreva and Domenico Berardi, but after watching Euro 2016 Inter fans began calling out for a new name to be added to that list, and it seems like Mancini and Piero Ausilio have heard them. That name of course is Marko Pjaca. Many of us were watching the Croatian National Team this summer to keep an eye on Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic (who had a very impressive showing) but Pjaca quickly caught fan’s attentions after some thrilling displays coming off the bench.

There were a couple of clubs interested in signing the young winger including AC Milan, Napoli, Fiorentina, and Liverpool. An interview with his agent suggested that the 21 year old would likely be heading to Milan, but it seems that Inter has been able to jump ahead and become the most likely club for the youngster to join. Inter’s relationship with Pjaca’s parent club Dinamo Zagreb was likely key to this deal being made so quickly; after already singing Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozovic from the Croatian club Ausilio has an excellent relationship to negotiate from.

Most reports indicate that Dinamo might have accepted a bid of about €15m (though some say it is closer to €20m), and Inter have scheduled a medical for Monday. Though the club hasn’t announced who the medical is for, it is possible that the mystery player is Pjaca. It is very likely that the signing of the versatile attacker (he can play on either wing or through the center) would dampen the club’s pursuit of Berardi and probably Candreva as well, though don’t be surprised to see the Nerazzurri put in one more bid for the Lazio winger to bring him in as another mentor for the 21 year old to go along with his national team buddy Perisic.
