Pre-season work continues as Inter will have their second friendly of the summer today, this time taking on Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia. The match will be at 18:00 CET (12:00 ET) at Inter’s training camp in Brunico, which will be shown live in Italy on Sky Sport 1 and in the USA on ESPN3. Today’s opponents should be in better shape than the Nerazzurri since their season begins on July 30th but this hopefully should be a good test for Mancini and his players.
Reports suggest that Caner Erkin will get his unofficial Inter debut today, while D’Ambrosio will play again at center-back and Jovetic will play up top with Icardi. I’m excited to see what Erkin can do (aka how accurate his crossing is), while it looks like Mancini is seriously starting to consider switching D’Ambrosio to be a permanent backup center-back (possibly as a replacement for the departing Juan Jesus?). Also, in his press conference yesterday Mancini said that he doesn’t think Jovetic will be leaving this summer so it looks like he is really trying to see how well a Jovetic-Icardi partnership will work out.
What about Eder you ask? Well he and the others who played in the Copa America/Euro 2016 (Banega, Medel, Murillo, Brozovic, and Perisic) don’t arrive at Brunico until Monday and reports suggest that they will not be coming with the main squad for the summer tour in the United States.
We can expect the Inter team today to be a little more active than in their opening friendly that ended 0-0, but Mancini stressed again that he wants to make sure that nobody gets injured today.
