One last article on our new midfielder. Now that Joao Mario is an Inter Milan player, he has chosen to wear the number 6 shirt for his new club. This number has historically been used for the main defensive midfielder in a squad, though the last person to wear this shirt at Inter was Marco Andreolli (he will be wearing the number 2 shirt this season). Hopefully he will provide the midfield with an intelligence and calmness that has been lacking since the squad lost Esteban Cambiasso.
Mario will be at the Inter v. Palermo match today and will also be presented to the home fans at the game. Praise was heaped upon the 23 year old by both Jindong Zhang and Erick Thohir in a press release today. Thohir emphasized the fact that Mario has been added to an already strong squad and was essentially letting fans know that they club is trying to support Frank De Boer in any way possible. If the club can sign another defender (the top choice right now is supposedly Ezequiel Garay) then this will probably be the perfect transfer market.
