Official: Stevan Jovetic departs for Sevilla

Another not-that-useful player departs.

The clearance continues. After the departure of Felipe Melo to Palmeiras, Inter are continuing to get rid of players in the squad that Stefano Pioli has no use for. Next on the list was Stevan Jovetic and today he has officially left for Sevilla on loan.

The Spanish side will take on Jovetic’s wages until the end of the season, and the deal also includes an option to purchase the Montenegrin striker. It is believed that the option will cost €14m so if Sevilla decides to use this Inter Milan will be able to almost fully recover the amount paid to Manchester City when their obligation to purchase clause was activated.

It was hoped that the 27 year old would find his feet again with a return to Italy but that never really worked out. Jovetic never really seemed to find his place in an Inter starting lineup under any of the managers he worked with, and soon his appearances were greeted with more groans than cheers. Outbursts by his agent didn’t help him find favor with Inter management, and soon it became clear that Jovetic had no place in the side and his only option was to leave.

Though his Inter experience really didn’t turn out for the best, I still wish Jovetic the best of luck at Sevilla. Hopefully he plays well in Spain and the club decides to purchase him at the end of the season. I’m a little sad to see him go, I really hoped he would find his form here. You know somebody who isn’t sad to see him go? Gabriel Barbosa.
