For a little over a week now there it has seemed that Inter and Atalanta were close to a transfer for talented youngster Roberto Gagliardini. There have been a couple of delays in the deal but it looks like everything is ready at this point. Barring any complications showing up in Gagliardini’s medical, he will be joining Inter Milan.

Sky and Pedulla first reported that all parties had came to an agreement, then Gagliardini’s agent was spotted as he departed Inter’s headquarters. As he was leaving he told reporters, “Let’s wait for the medical, but basically… Inter have signed the future of Italian football.” The medical is likely going to be tomorrow in Milan.

The deal is believed to be a little cheaper than earlier suggestions. Current reports state it is a €2m loan with an option to buy (which could become an obligation after a certain number of appearances) for €20m, though some outlets state there could be other bonuses that could increase the deal up to €6m. Suning and Ausilio did a good job of shifting some of the costs into bonuses, as well as making the deal an option to purchase rather than an immediate obligation. Though these are again rumored figures and for all we know those bonus and appearance clauses could be easy to reach.

Let’s hope there are no problems with the medical, I’m looking forward to seeing what the 22 year old can do!
