Where: San Siro; Milan, Italy.
It’s Round 20 folks. The second half of the campaign has officially begun. Stefano Pioli and his men host Chievo Verona today seeking revenge for the loss Inter suffered in the opening match of the season. That 2-0 defeat was the beginning Frank De Boer’s Inter nightmare, and if Inter want to move up the table and have a shot at the Champions League places, the team needs to pick up the dropped points from easier opponents, starting with the visitors today.
Chievo comes into this match on a three match losing streak in all competitions so while their confidence might be low, their side will be eager to return to winning ways. Inter on the other hand is riding a four match winning streak and will hope to add another three points to their tally today. The Flying Donkeys will do their best to spoil the party once again though.
Team News
Gary Medel is back! The Chilean has returned from injury and is available for use, though it is likely that he will be on the bench today and get his first start in the upcoming Coppa Italia match. New man Roberto Gagliardini is also available and with Marcelo Brozovic suspended, there’s actually a decent chance he’ll start unless Pioli opts to play both Joao Mario and Ever Banega. As it stands, Joao Mario is expected to start over Ever Banega and Samir Handanovic has a cold but it most likely will not be enough to prevent him from playing.
Probable Starting XIs
Inter (4-2-3-1): Handanovic; Ansaldi, Miranda, Murillo, D’Ambrosio; Gagliardini, Kondogbia; Perisic, Mario, Candreva; Icardi.
Chievo (4-3-1-2): Sorrentino; Frey, Dainelli, Cesar, Gobbi; Castro, Radovanovic, De Guzman; Birsa; Meggiorini, Pellissier
