Inter leading the Gagliardini race?

Different outlets are reporting different situations but the general message is the same: Inter is close to the midfielder.

Remember a couple of days ago when Inter were looking at a low-cost loan deal for Lucas Leiva to help out before making a big signing in the summer? Remember yesterday when that deal was being put on hold because Inter wanted to take a closer look at Luiz Gustavo and Roberto Gagliardini? Well it looks like Suning has decided to throw discretion and cost-savings to the wind because multiple reports have emerged today not only that Inter are going after Gagliardini, but that the young midfielder is close to signing for the club already.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Atalanta has agreed to a loan with an obligation to buy the 22 year old worth anywhere from €25-30m. Other sources confirm that a deal has been struck and Sky has gone so far as to say that the Italian will have a medical with Inter tomorrow. Despite one or two sources still mentioning Juventus in connection to the midfielder, most seem to have admitted that Gagliardini is probably swapping one black and blue jersey for another.

Part of me is a little concerned that the club is going to pay that much for a relatively unproven youngster, but I can’t let my Kondogbia fears shackle me forever. Gagliardini has the potential to be very good, and if these stories are to be believed he’ll soon be an Inter player with the potential to be very good. Watch this space, there will likely be new developments within the next few days.
