Match Info
When: Sunday, February 19 6:30am ET/12:30pm CET
Where: Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, Bologna, Italy.
In the last round, Inter managed to put disappointment behind them to win against Empoli. Now the side travels to take on Bologna hoping both for another win and for the European matches to cause their rivals to slip up a bit. Inter’s fate is no longer in their hands though so all they can do is continue to win and see where they stand when the season ends.
Like the Empoli match, this is a game Inter should be able to win even with the missing players. Bologna comes into this match in 14th place and on a 3 match losing streak. Roberto Donadoni will do his best to inspire his men though, and they will be eager to break their poor run of form at home for their fans. This means Stefano Pioli will likely tell his players to score early to cut off any ideas of an upset.
Team News
Donadoni has some injury issues for his side, most notably missing his star striker Mattia Destro. Also on the injury table include Robert Acquafresca, Daniele Gastaldello, Domenico Maietta, and Orji Okwonkwo.
Pioli also has some missing players to deal with. Mauro Icardi will be serving the final match of his suspension, while Geoffrey Kondogbia also serve a one match ban. With Marcelo Brozovic gone too due to injury Inter is a bit short-staffed in midfield which makes it pretty likely that either Ever Banega will start this match or Gary Medel will get moved back to midfield (or both). On the bright side Ivan Perisic is back from his suspension. With the Croatian winger returning and Medel’s likely return to the center of the pitch some are speculating that Pioli will switch back to a back four in this game though others suggest he’ll stick with the three man defense. I think he’ll go back to a back four but we’ll see.
