Inter travels to Genoa today desperately hoping to put an end to the winless streak that has seen the side crash and burn. Another loss would be devastating. Even a draw would be incredibly disappointing. The team has to win today against this struggling Genoa side. If they cannot, I don’t know how they will make it through the final matches of the campaign.
When rumors of the starting lineup were going around yesterday, there was hope. It sounded like Yuto Nagatomo might lose his starting spot for Santon. There were also more exciting whispers that Gabriel Barbosa would start today cause you know, the season is basically over and the kid hasn’t gotten a single start in the league. I actually believed it. I thought Stefano Pioli would realize that this could be a perfect match to start Gabigol and see what he can do. Why was I so naive?
Not only are Nagatomo and Gary Medel starting in defense, but there is no Gabigol in the starting lineup. Instead Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva are the two wingers. Who is playing through the middle you ask? Well, not Ever Banega. So Joao Mario? Nope. Pioli has opted to go with Eder. This should be fun. And by fun I mean frustrating to the point you want to pull out your hair-or drink.
