Club hasn’t confirmed, but Viola and Valero himself have.

According to Fiorentina president Mario Cognigni, midfielder Borja Valero has already joined Inter Milan.

Cognigni told Gazzeta dello Sport:

“Has Borja Valero already been sold to Inter? Yes, yes …”

He made the comments after leaving Fiorentina’s training complex.

Earlier Friday, Valero virtually confirmed leaving the Viola without actually saying where he was going.

Roughly translated through my questionable Italian:

“I would like to thank the family of Della Valli and all of Fiorentina for having made it easier to conclude the latter complex phase in the choice of this new professional experience.”

Italian media have suggested Valero will have his medical for Inter on Monday. The reported price tag the Nerazzurri paid the Viola for the midfielder: €5 million and bonuses.

The Spaniard has been with Fiorentina since 2012 when he joined from Villarreal for a €7 million transfer fee. He’s also had stints at West Bromwich Albion and Mallorca.

Last season, in 32 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina, Valero had one goal and nine assists. He had a goal and an assist in six Europa League games as well.

All-in-all, this is a solid pickup for the Nerazzurri. Valero provides nice maturity to help with Joao Mário and Roberto Gagliardini. He adds instant experience to a midfield that averages around 24 years of age. Valero plays in the center, but I think he is versatile enough to be an offensive and defensive option in the middle.
