It could be just the help Inter Milan needed on defense.
On Tuesday, the club made it official that it has signed Valencia right back Joao Cancelo on a season-long loan with a €25 million option to purchase next summer.
It makes the third Joao on the Nerazzurri roster — Joao Mario and Joao Miranda.
“I hope to develop and contribute to the Inter project,” Cancelo told Inter Channel Tuesday. “Our objectives? I hope to win with this shirt. I intend to settle in as quickly as possible, I'm a player who likes to help my teammates and I'll give my all for Inter. I come here convinced that I can do well and I'm ready to give my best for these colours [sic].”
Part of the deal includes Inter sending midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia to Valencia.
Cancelo joins Milan Skriniar and Dalbert as summer transfer moves the Nerazzuri have made to bolster its defense.
Portuguese international has spent three years in La Liga making 74 appearances. During that time, he scored two goals and had eight assists. He also has a Champions League goal and assist to his resume.
The club said Tuesday Cancelo will wear No. 7.
