Rumor Mill: Sturridge looking at Inter Milan

Here is a deal that seems somewhat realistic: Daniel Sturridge loaned to Inter Milan from Liverpool.

Tuttosport initially reported the potential, but Sky Sports picked up the ball and ran with it on Wednesday.

It would likely be a loan deal, which is exactly what the Nerazzurri are in the market for during this mercato.

The problem with Sturridge, like with Rafinha, is injuries.

Last season, the Birmingham-born striker missed 11 games due to various injury and illness. He missed another 17 games the season before and most of the 2014/15 season with a hip injury.

But, when he is on the field, he can be very potent.

In the 2013/14 season, Sturridge scored 25 goals and had nine assists in all competitions for Liverpool. In 2015/15, he had 13 goals and two assists in all competition.

So far this season, Sturridge has scored twice in Premier League matches and once in the Champions League but he has fallen out of the starting lineup thanks to the play of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane up front for the Reds.

Even with the sale of Philippe Coutinho, it is not likely Liverpool needs Sturridge’s services. And, since Sturridge is looking for a call-up to the England National Team ahead of the 2018 World Cup, he would be looking for a place where he could play immediately.

Inter Milan could be a place for Sturridge’s talent as Luciano Spalletti looks to bolster an offensive attack that has sputtered to score just two goals in its last six matches – but scored 33 in the previous 16 matches.

Sturridge, if healthy, could be a dangerous option alongside Mauro Icardi, but only time will tell if any potential deal – loan or otherwise – materialize.
