Gabriel Barbosa to … West Ham?

What does Joao Mario think of the Inter forward going to his former loan club?

Reports in England suggest that West Ham United have given an offer to Inter Milan for forward Gabriel Barbosa.

The Brazilian forward has been on loan at Santos since last season.

Since January, Barbosa has seemed to find his previous form, scoring 25 goals in 49 appearances for the club Inter signed him away from.

Prior to being on loan with Santos, Inter sent Barbosa to Portugal and Benfica, but he managed just 156 minutes of playing time in the first half of the season with the Portuguese outfit.

Further reports state that Everton and Crystal Palace may also be interested in Barbosa, but it is West Ham who have already reached out to Inter about a deal.

West Ham had Inter midfielder Joao Mario on loan for the latter half of last season but failed to connect on an offer to make the loan permanent. Since then, other teams have enquired about Mario, but no offers came to fruition.

Now, Mario has started to find a way back into Luciano Spalletti’s good graces and it is paying dividends. Against Genoa last week, Mario had a goal and three assists in the Nerazzurri’s 5-0 win at the Meazza.

In terms of Barbosa to West Ham, remember the transfer window is a ways away, so anything can happen, including a return to Inter for Gabigol or a stay with Santos.
