Thanks to a yellow card in the 39th minute against Torino, Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has been disqualified for the Nerazzurri’s next match at Atalanta.

The Croatian has picked up his game since being benched against Fiorentina back in January.

He has notched four assists – his latest coming in a 3-0 win against Hellas Verona on March 31. His yellow card against Torino was his fifth of the season.

The disqualification could pave the way for either Borja Valero or Matias Vecino to start in his place this weekend.

Vecino has only played 12 minutes since being benched by Luciano Spalletti against Naples on March 11. His brief outing came against Sampdoria in a 5-0 win. Vecino was benched against Hellas Verona and for the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan.

He sat out last weekend’s 1-0 loss at Torino with adductor issues.

Valero, Vecino’s compatriot from Fiorentina, has also played sparingly, though not as much as Vecino. He was benched against Benevento in February and only played an average of 14 minutes up until the game in Turin.

It would seem that Valero would be the better option for the Atalanta game, but either could fill the bill.
