After Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield United, Inter Milan started to shift gears to the upcoming ICC Champions Cup play coming up over the next two weeks.

The first Cup game will be against Premier League side Chelsea on Saturday at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.

That will present a strong opportunity for Inter sporting direction Piero Ausilio to sit down with Chelsea management to discuss the possible transfer of Blues’ defender Davide Zappacosta and/or midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

This conference could yield a couple of potential scenarios for the Nerazzurri to add either or player to the roster for the upcoming season.

As Chelsea recently added new manager Maurizio Sarri, the Blues could be keen in looking at a swap deal for Inter midfielder Matias Vecino, who recently impressed for Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia.

Sarri and Vecino have history when both were at Empoli.

Of course, Ausilio could work out a loan/purchase deal for either Zappacosta or Bakayoko, with Zappacosta being the preferred target.

Inter remain interested in Atletico Madrid’s Sime Vrsaljko and Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian to fill the role of right back — which is likely Inter’s biggest position of concern during the transfer window.

According to Gianluca DiMarzio, Inter is in the midst of working on loan deals for either player. DiMarzio also reported that the Nerazzurri also maintain interest for Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal to fill a midfield role.

However, the meeting in Nice this week could yield fruit for Inter to solve at least one of their position issues.
