Lautaro Martinez voted Man of the Match in Coppa Italia match vs Benevento

Inter Milan ran a poll on Twitter where fans voted for Man of the Match. Lautaro Martinez won with 45 percent of the vote. Antonio Candreva received 29 percent of the vote while Dalbert Henrique received 14 percent. Ivan Perisic came in 4th in voting with 12 percent. It truly was a great game from Martinez netting two goals to extend Inter’s lead to 4-0 and 5-1. The more great performances he churns out, the more likely Inter may see him and Icardi in the same XI. David Pizarro, former Inter Milan midfielder, had an interview with Sky Sport in which he said:

“In my opinion Lautaro has important characteristics and then Icardi is important for Inter. I think Luciano will be evaluating everything. In other countries talents like them would be playing together but in Italy there is a lot of attention to team dynamics.”

A good question to ask is, how long can Inter keep one off the starting XI if both keep performing? We shall see soon enough.

Nerazzurri fans should not be worried about Mauro Icardi

Lots has been said about Mauro Icardi and his future with Inter Milan. Real Madrid is looming with Icardi’s buyout clause at 110m. One thing that should reassure Inter fans is what Beppe Marotta told La Domenica Sportiva.

“Fans can be relaxed, nonsense talking is not needed. These kinds of situations are normal within a top club, especially when the expiration of the contract is close. There will be no problems, both parties want to reach an agreement and that’s the most important thing”.

The last thing Inter and their fans should have to worry about is if Mauro Icardi is returning this summer. There is a lot of football to be played before the summer and he is their most important player. The quote makes it seem like a contract extension and salary raise will be agreed upon. Hopefully this happens soon so Mauro can focus 110 percent on winning some games and getting at least one trophy this season.
