Politano looks forward to match against his old club
Inter Milan and Sassuolo go head to head on Saturday for the second time this season. Sassuolo took the first game 1-0 at the Citta del Tricolore after taking six out of six points last campaign. Politano had an interview with Sky Sport where he looks forward to the match Saturday and also looks ahead for the rest of the campaign.
Looking at the Sassuolo match, he said “We’ve seen that they’ve put everyone in difficulty so far, ourselves included. It will be a difficult game, especially because we don’t have the help of our fans. It will be a very complicated game.”
For some reason, Sassuolo has had the Nerazzurri’s number. They get up for the game and outplay them even though Inter are the superior team. It will be an interesting match as this is the 2nd game that Inter will play in front of no fans. It certainly will take a different mind set from the players compared to other home matches.
Politano also looked ahead for other competitions this season.
“We can go far in every competition. In the Coppa Italia, we have a tough tie against Lazio, we’re in the last 32 of the Europa League and we’re on the heels of Napoli in the league. We have three very important objectives but it’s vital that we approach things one game at a time. The match against Napoli gave us lots of strength, the important thing is to keep that focus, play from the start to the end in games because we’re up against a very tough challenge on Saturday.”
It should be interesting how Inter end up performing in the cups. They have the quality of team where they can make a push for at least one trophy this season. Maybe even two if things go their way.
Inter will face Lazio in the quarter-finals of Coppa Italia
Inter have drawn Lazio in the Coppa Italia and will host them for the quarter-finals on Jan. 31 at 21:00 CET. Inter have faced Lazio once this season earning all three points in a 3-0 thrashing at the Stadio Olimpico. Inter will hope to repeat their best performance of the season, this time in front of their own fans, and get closer to adding a trophy to the trophy case.
Keita Balde out for the foreseeable future
The Nerazzurri forward picked up a thigh injury in training. The Senegalese International had an MRI on Wednesday that revealed a right thigh injury. He will be reassessed next week and missing at least the Sassuolo game. Injury comes at a bad time as he was starting to find his form for the Nerazzurri having scored four goals in 17 appearances this season.
