A Derby delay is unlikely despite Inter’s COVID problem

Corriere della Sera is reporting (via SempreInter) that Inter Milan are currently preparing to play the Derby della Madonnina this weekend despite a sudden surge in COVID cases among the team.

Inter currently have six players that are positive for COVID-19: Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, Radja Nainggolan, Roberto Gagliardini, Ionut Andrei Radu and Ashley Young. The rest of the players at the club are taking almost daily COVID tests and are set to take yet another one today.

Inter are scheduled to host AC Milan this Saturday. Unless there’s a more dramatic spike on either club, it seems like the match is going to happen. They’ve seemingly done a good job of contact tracing and isolating the positive players. So the Derby is on unless the clubs become more uncomfortable with the situation.
