Lukaku doesn’t seem likely to play for Belgium over break

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport via SempreInter, says that Romelu Lukaku won’t be playing for Belgium over the international break. The Belgian striker picked up a muscle injury recently and didn’t look healthy again after returning against Atalanta over the weekend.

His injury recovery is essential to Inter gaining their footing in both Serie A and the Champions League. They haven’t looked like the best version of themselves lately and Lukaku having a return to form is an essential part of that.

According to the report, Inter and Belgium came to an agreement that despite his being called up for International Duty, he would be closely monitored. Given that strange language, I would expect him to miss out in the friendly against Switzerland.

After the friendly, Belgium play against England and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League. He might get some run in those matches, however, it’s obviously worth monitoring.
