The month of October was not a kind one to Inter Milan but November is no easier. The likes of Real Madrid (twice, nonetheless), Atalanta, and Sassuolo are on the cards for the Nerazzurri in the coming weeks and Inter’s October misfiring have left no room for error.

First up is a visit to the Santiago Bernabéu Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano (the Bernabéu is being renovated) and Real Madrid in the Champions League. The previous two European match-days have seen Inter pick up just two points after draws versus Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk. The Nerazzurri will be in danger of missing out on advancing, or worse, if it doesn’t start picking up three points. Madrid is in the same boat as well, as Zinedine Zidane’s outfit have garnered a mere point so far. Even so, Group B remains wide open. First-placed Shakhtar have four points while Monchengladbach is level with Inter on two. With the table as packed as it is, there is very little room for Inter to drop points while a loss could be fatal.

Despite its stuttering start in Europe, Madrid are second in La Liga with 17 points and have a game in hand on first placed Real Sociedad. Real’s campaign didn’t start quite so brightly, however. It was held to defeat against Cadiz and a draw with Sociedad, but Madrid has since turned its form around. Los Blancos came out on top in the Classico by a comfortable score of 3-1 before rolling over Huesca 4-1 over the weekend. Karim Benzema has been excellent of late with three goals in his last two. He and the likes of Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior are sure to cause a flimsy Inter backline problems, so the Nerazzurri may be forced to rack up some goals to get a result.

Predicted Starting XIs

Inter’s Predicted XI (3-5-2)

Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Inter Milan

If Inter can start finishing chances, this game could end much differently. But the absence of Lukaku and Lautaro’s continued poor form will see goals continue to go missing in the final third, while we see the same defensive mistakes that have plagued the 2020/21 campaign so far. But stranger things have happened this year than Inter picking up three points Tuesday.
