Manchester City’s interest in Skriniar could see Cancelo return to the San Siro

According to a report from CalcioMercato.com, Manchester City are potentially interested in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The interested from the City side has seen them reportedly move to a place wherein they’re willing to put Joao Cancelo into the deal to move things along this summer.

The problem from the Inter point of view is that a player for player swap involving Skriniar and Cancelo doesn’t see the full value of Skriniar returned. The deal would likely have to include some form of a payment on top of the swap.

This is all in spite of Inter’s interest in Cancelo. They would certainly be pleased to see him return to Inter where he was on loan in the 2017 season. They opted not to keep Cancelo during his loan stay, but if a transfer of Skriniar feels inevitable at any point this summer, a solid player returning isn’t the worst thing.
