Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro Martinez reportedly hasn’t waned with the end of the January transfer window. Given Luis Suarez’s age and injury history, Barcelona have been keen on signing Martinez despite the €111 million release clause.
Despite all of this, Inter Milan are apparently not all that worried about it. Martinez’s contract runs till the 2022/23 season, and in spite of the interest they don’t feel the need to discuss a lengthier contract.
Martinez has bagged 16 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions. His importance to Conte hasn’t changed Inter’s mind when it comes to further protecting him from a transfer. The €111 million release clause is only valid in the first two weeks of July, we’ll have to see if Barcelona are willing to cough up the money early in the summer transfer window.
