Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to take up the purchase option on Ivan Perisic. The Inter Milan attacker has been on loan at Bayern since the summer on a loan deal with the option to buy. Kicker is reporting that Bayern are prepared to spend the €20 million to make the deal permanent.

The most recent reports before this week made it seem as if Bayern were prepared to let the loan expire and Perisic return to Inter. However, the reported difficulty that Bayern has had in securing Manchester City’s Leroy Sane has made them reconsider the longer-term prospects of Perisic at the club.

This is all despite the ankle injury that currently has Perisic sidelined. In the 22 appearances he’s made with the club thus far he’s netted five goals and eight assists.

Perisic not returning to Inter Milan hadn’t seemed like that big of a deal. However, if Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez move out of Milan this summer, and viable replacements don’t come right away, Perisic not returning could hurt. His return was almost like a failsafe option. However, that’s a bunch of hypotheticals before this would even be a problem.
