Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Inter Milan and Samir Handanovic are in discussions and have come to an agreement to a contract extension. The deal would extend the goalkeeper’s current one till 2022.
His current deal expires in 2021 so this is only a 12 month extension. However, given that Handanovic is 36-years-old, it makes business sense to take the relationship slower if the goalkeeper is okay with it.
Despite his age, he’s obviously still essential to Inter. He’s kept seven clean sheets and only conceded 20 goals this season despite missing matches due to injury. He arrived in 2018 and had a fantastic year last season at nine clean sheets in 26 league matches. The extension is a due one, and it looks to be made official this summer.
