Is anyone buying Messi and Inter?

Speculation usually swirls around Lionel Messi. It’s what happens when you’re the best player in the world and your contract has a year left on it.

There’s no getting around the fact that Messi and Barcelona are at odds. The decisions that Barcelona have made aren’t making it easy for Messi to re-sign. Frankly, he can hold the club hostage like LeBron James did to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Force the board to make decisions on the managerial and player front that make him happy in the short term.

In my opinion, the Lionel Messi to Inter Milan rumors are probably just that, rumors. However, Inter, like most other clubs, have apparently been interested in Messi for years. The latest reports talk about Inter readying a €260 salary for Messi that would be paid out over a few years.

Messi leaving Barcelona has never felt all that real. If it’s ever going to happen in Messi’s prime, it feels like it would be in the next 12 months. He’s never been this unhappy with Barcelona’s direction, and if Barcelona aren’t careful, Messi might actually consider leaving. But he won’t, so I’m not buying Messi to Inter Milan.
