It took a bit longer than we expected, but Inter’s UCL Round of 16 opponent has finally been revealed once and for all. The Nerazzurri were originally drawn with Ajax but a “material error” in the draw forced UEFA to redo the entire draw after complaints from several clubs. Take two saw Inter match-up with the far more fearsome Liverpool, a team that recently easily beat Milan with its second-string at the San Siro. The English side was one of only three teams to boast a 100% record in the group stage (along with Bayern and Ajax) and is currently second in the Premier League with an 11W-4D-1L record. Inter knew it wasn’t going to have it easy after failing to take top spot in Group D from Real Madrid, but this is about as difficult as it could get for Simone Inzaghi’s side. Still, there’s something special about playing the very best there is and it’s a relief to see Inter at this stage of the UCL whatsoever.
Here’s the entire knockout stage draw.
- PSG vs Real Madrid
- Villareal vs Juventus
- Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United
- Chelsea vs Lille
- Benfica vs Ajax
- Sporting CP vs Manchester United
- RB Salzburg vs Bayern Munich
What do you think? Does Inter have a chance against Liverpool?
Forza Inter!
