After receiving two Ballon d’Or nominations for the first time since 2011, Inter continues to see its recognition on the international stage grow. The Guardian has named three Inter players to its 100 Best Male Footballers of 2021 list. Marcelo Brozovic, Lautaro Martinez, and Nicolo Barella are the Nerazzurri’s contingent, ranked at 81st, 30th, and 26th respectively. The Nerazzurri had four representatives last season, with Romelu Lukaku leading the way at 19th along with Lautaro (44th), Achraf Hakimi (76th), and Barella (92nd). It’s a testament to Lautaro and Barella’s superb improvement in recent seasons that they jumped 14 and 66 places respectively. Brozovic, meanwhile, makes a well-deserved debut on the list.

Of the thirteen total Serie A representatives, Inter leads the way with three entries, followed by Juventus (2), Milan (2), Atalanta (2), Fiorentina (1), Lazio (1), and Roma (1). Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini are the highest-ranked names from the peninsula, though Lautaro and Barella aren’t far behind.

Here’s the complete list of Serie A’s honorees.
