With a summer as hectic as Inter’s promises to be on the horizon, the luxury of knowing without a doubt won’t be easily found. The transfer rumor mill has been churning 24/7 and a Nerazzurri name seems to be perennially in the headlines. But one of the main focuses of speculation has put an end to the talk. In an interview with Belgian TV VTM on national team duty, Romelu Lukaku squashed rumors of his Inter departure once and for all. The 2020/21 Serie A MVP has been linked with a plethora of English clubs but barring any surprises (Which we can’t rule out. This is Inter after all), Lukaku will be in a Nerrazurri kit come next fall.
“I am staying at Inter. I’ve already had contact with new manager and I feel good at Inter. Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet... but it was a very positive conversation.
There’s also the challenge of doing it again (winning the league with Inter). Finally I won something, I liked it but I want to do it again. With a full San Siro this time.”

While Lukaku didn’t name next season’s manager specifically, he sounded certain as to who it would be. All of the signs have pointed towards Simone Inzaghi and it’s only a matter of time before he’s announced. Having Inter’s star striker and coach on the same page will be crucial, as Conte and Lukaku’s superb relationship showed. Perhaps the Belgian is thinking of Ciro Immobile’s 36-goal campaign under Inzaghi and how much of his tactics funnel through the strikers. Either way, Lukaku is sure to be just as important to the newest prowler on Inter’s sideline as the previous.
