If you’re North America-based and were looking forward to seeing Inter’s preseason up close (like me), think again. Inter has released a statement confirming recent talk in the Italian media that the Nerazzurri are not traveling to the Florida Cup over pandemic concerns.

MILAN - FC Internazionale Milano announce that they will not be travelling to the USA for the Florida Cup due to the current risks involved in international travel as a result of the spread of the pandemic, risks that have already caused Arsenal F.C. to withdraw from participation.

With COVID-19 still spreading rampantly in the US, this is a smart decision. The risks of an early-season outbreak far outweigh any slight financial gain from competing in the Florida Cup. Inter now has a week of the preseason to fill with friendlies based in Italy rather than abroad. There’s no word yet on whether the tournament will go on with Everton and Millonarios the only remaining participants but Inter will be staying in Appiano no matter what.
