The Champions League group stage script has been written for Inter Milan. Last week’s 4-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen cemented Inter’s spot in the next round of the competition. Bayern Munich’s victory over Barcelona hours later then confirmed the Germans as winners of the group. Both teams will be happy with their positioning and will head into this match as little more than a friendly.

The defending Bundesliga champions sit a point off of the summit of the German top flight, but dismantled FSV Mainz 6-2 on the weekend after last week’s 3-0 win over a dejected Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
They do have a number of injuries though, including the likes of Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sane, and Thomas Muller, among others. With these absences, Bayern will without a doubt be fielding at least a b-team.

Inter capped off a miraculous month of October with a win over Sampdoria in Serie A after their victory against Plzen last week. After a loss to Roma early in October, Inter have gotten positive results from each of the following matches. However, most Nerazzurri eyes will be on the weekend’s trip to Turin to face Max Allegri’s struggling Juventus.
The biggest blow of the week is Romelu Lukaku’s continuing injury woes. Because of this, we could see Joaquin Correa start to give Edin Dzeko a rest. Marcelo Brozovic will also still not be back. Like Bayern though, there is not real reason for Inter to really push the issue, especially with an important derby just days later.

Predicted Starting XIs
BAYERN (4-2-3-1): Ulreich; Mazraoui, Pavard, Davies; Sabitzer, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Sane; Choupo-Moting.
INTER (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Gagliardini, Gosens; Correa, Lautaro.
Prediction: Bayern 2-2 Inter
Both teams have nothing to play for and will be resting and rotating a myriad of players throughout the match, making the gauge on starting lineups difficult. Who knows who exactly we will see feature in this match, but it should not be too intense given the circumstances. We are not looking at another 2011 or anything like that. Just sit back and enjoy the ticked to the next round that is already secured.
Forza Inter!
